Bio

Rich Kelly is a former Division I basketball player and current coach known for his toughness, leadership, competitive spirit, and elite shooting ability. A native of Shelton, Connecticut, Kelly built a respected collegiate career through perseverance, adaptability, and a relentless passion for the game, earning recognition as one of the top shooters in college basketball during his career.

Kelly began his college career at Quinnipiac University, where he quickly emerged as one of the top young guards in the MAAC. As a freshman, he earned MAAC All-Rookie Team honors and established himself as a skilled scorer with toughness, confidence, and a strong feel for the game. During his sophomore season, Kelly led the MAAC in three-point shooting percentage, becoming one of the conference’s most dangerous perimeter threats while continuing to develop as a leader and competitor.

Following three seasons at Quinnipiac, Kelly transferred to Boston College, competing in the ACC before finishing his collegiate career at the University of Massachusetts. In his fifth year at UMass, Kelly once again established himself as one of the nation’s premier shooters, leading the Atlantic 10 Conference in three-point percentage while bringing veteran leadership, experience, and professionalism to the Minutemen program.

Throughout his playing career, Kelly earned respect for his resilience, authenticity, and team-first mentality. Known for his calm confidence and steady presence, he consistently brought energy, competitiveness, and passion into every environment he entered while navigating multiple conferences and high-level programs across Division I basketball.

Following his playing career, Kelly transitioned into coaching and joined the University of Connecticut men’s basketball staff under head coach Dan Hurley. At UConn, he has contributed in areas including player development, scouting, analytics, recruiting, and daily program operations as part of one of the premier programs in college basketball.

Today, Kelly continues to dedicate himself to helping develop the next generation of athletes both on and off the court, bringing Division I experience, elite shooting knowledge, competitive toughness, and a player-first approach rooted in growth, connection, and love for the game.
